Rolando Bianchi scored twice against Napoli in their Serie A encounter this afternoon.
This week saw former Manchester City striker Rolando Bianchi linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion as a replacement for the departing Shane Long – and for those who were familiar with the player’s time in Manchester it was news that came as a shock.
Bianchi cost Sven-Goran Eriksson £8.8 million in July 2007 – but a year later he was sold at a loss to Torino after a poor time in England.
But he went on to become a cult legend at Torino – as he regularly found the back of the net for Il Toro during his five year stay at the club.
Last summer he joined Bologna and it has been a struggle at the club so far – with just the one goal against Atalanta in November to show for his move.
Well today then was surely his best day in a Bologna shirt so far.
He bagged a brace today, including a last minute equaliser, against title chasing Napoli as the ten-men home side held off Rafa Benitez outfit’s onslaught to claim a brilliant point.
If this is the Bianchi West Brom get hold of – then it would be a fantastic signing.
But if they get his alter ego – the misfiring one of the past few months and at City – then they would be best to steer clear…
Here are the goals from the game…
