Martin Odegaard will be looking for his full debut for Arsenal tomorrow afternoon.
The Gunners visit Aston Villa in the Premier League and Odegaard, a January signing from Real Madrid, might be hoping Mikel Arteta puts him in his starting lineup for the first time.
Emile Smith Rowe had a pretty quiet game in the midweek defeat by Wolves and therefore, the Norway international might well find himself in the first XI.
And it could be the start of a very successful stint in North London.
That’s because despite only being on loan, Eurosport has reported that Odegaard will be ‘more than happy’ to join Arsenal for the long term if Zinedine Zidane remains in charge at Real.
The iconic Frenchman doesn’t seem to have much plan for Odegaard in his senior squad right now and instead of wasting his time back in the Spanish capital, the 22-year-old playmaker would jump at the chance to join Mikel Arteta’s side on a permanent basis, the report claims.
Of course, this all depends on how he fares in the Premier League.
This is a difficult division for a lot of foreign imports and time will tell how Odegaard – who earns £85,000 per week in Spain – adjusts to the speed and physicality of the English game.
