AC Milan have received a massive boost in their pursuit of AS Roma star and reported Tottenham target Nicolo Zaniolo, with the Italian giants set to be taken over by new owners in the coming days.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Bahrain-based asset manager Investcorp are close to taking over Milan in a deal worth €1bn (£830m), and in further reporting from Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri are set for a huge summer of spending if the deal goes through.

Milan could have as much as €300m (£250m) to spend on new players, with Zaniolo one of the names Investcorp are interested in bringing to the San Siro, with Tottenham also interested in the Roma star.

Despite impressing for Jose Mourinho’s side in recent weeks, Zaniolo is expected to leave Roma this summer, with numerous clubs interested in the 22-year-old Italian international.

Labelled as a ‘genius’ from former Milan and England manager Fabio Capello, Zaniolo has been in great form in 2022, and the playmaker’s recent performances could see Roma sell their star midfielder for a big fee this summer.

Indeed, the pending takeover of Milan could have huge effects for football around Europe, especially if Investcorp pumps in plenty of money for the Italian giants to invest in the transfer window. And for Tottenham, they could now miss out on Zaniolo.

Milan are on the brink of an exciting new era for the club, and with funds likely to be made available this summer, the Serie A giants have a huge chance of beating Tottenham to the signing of Zaniolo.

After all, with a UEFA Champions League spot all but wrapped up and Stefan Pioli building an exciting squad, Zaniolo could play a central role for Milan for years to come if the Italian side pull the trigger for the Roma star.
