Leeds and Elland Road have been discussed by Phil Foden ahead of Manchester City travelling to Yorkshire.
Pep Guardiola takes his Premier League winners to face Jesse Marsch and the Whites on Wednesday 28th December, as domestic football prepares to return after Sunday’s World Cup final.
Speaking to Amazon Prime ahead of the clash, Foden was asked what he thinks of Elland Road, and he went into plenty of detail.
What’s the story?
Well, the England international – who is valued at £82m – admitted Elland Road can be “scary” for visiting players.
The 22-year-old also revealed that Leeds fans even threw things at him during Manchester City’s 4-0 win over the Whites at Elland Road last season.
Foden told Amazon Prime: “It can be scary. Definitely. They feel so on top of you, always shouting, throwing paper at me last time, but I enjoy those occasions, playing against big teams like Leeds, and the atmosphere they create. It’s good for the Premier League as well to have atmospheres like this.
“The fans make it such a special stadium. You definitely have to be on your best game to play there and get a result.”
Clearly, the Manchester City No.47 enjoys heated affairs like a visit to Elland Road, even if he does seem slightly frightened of the intense nature, as he admits.
Nevertheless, Leeds fans should be just as scared of Foden as he is of them.
The England World Cup star is one of the best players in the country, and has already scored seven goals – while also providing three assists – in 14 Premier League appearances this season.
Leeds will be motivated for Manchester City clash
Just before the World Cup began, Leeds came close to beating Tottenham in what eventually ended up being a 4-3 defeat in a north London thriller.
Before that game, Leeds recorded inspirational wins over Liverpool and Bournemouth, so Marsch will undoubtedly be raring to go as he looks to put that defeat to Spurs behind him.

However – as detailed on HITC Football yesterday – another key figure in Erling Haaland, born in Leeds, will also be raring to go, as Norway’s failure to qualify for the World Cup means he has been twiddling his thumbs for weeks.
It should be an entertaining clash between the Citizens and the Whites, made all the more exciting by Elland Road’s raucous atmosphere.
