During the international break, Lucas Moura found time to speak with ESPN about his aspirations, after Brazil decided not to give him a call up.

Interestingly, the £80,000-a-week Tottenham forward revealed what was going through his head after joining Paris Saint-Germain from São Paulo.

ESPN quote him as saying: “It’s in my plans to go back to Brazil, back to São Paulo. I never hid it from anyone, I never hid the affection and love I feel for São Paulo. When I left São Paulo I said I wanted to stay for ten years in Europe. Come rain, come shine, my goal, my plan is to stay ten years.”

Now, without mentioning Tottenham, we believe Lucas has just announced his own exit from Spurs in 2023.

Why will Lucas leave Tottenham in 2023?

Well, you may not know that Lucas joined PSG in 2012 in a deal worth around £35m, but only arrived in Europe the following January in 2013.

Clearly, the Tottenham No.27 states that he arrived in France with the intention of staying in Europe for a decade – no more, no less.

Lucas seems pretty sure about this, claiming that his stay will only be for ten years ‘come rain’ and ‘come shine’ – he seems to have his heart set on it.

If our very basic maths is correct, that means the Brazilian plans to leave Europe – and Tottenham – in 2023, which isn’t too far away.

Will Tottenham miss Lucas?

The 29-year-old is a tireless worker, and also a fan favourite given his incredible hat-trick against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final.

He will undoubtedly be missed from an emotional aspect, although in terms of what he offers on the pitch, we feel Spurs will survive.

Lucas is hardly a prolific goalscorer, and can sometimes lack quality in the final third despite his limitless energy.

Nuno Espirito Santo will surely be grateful for the South American’s comments.

In telling everyone he plans to leave in 2023, Tottenham can now begin searching for replacements, safe in the knowledge they will lose a forward in two years.

Hopefully, Lucas can end his time in north London with some silverware.
