Jesse Marsch has been speaking about Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp as he prepares to take his Leeds side to Anfield tonight.
The American spoke about how he is attempting to recreate what the passionate German has built on Merseyside, while also sharing his thoughts on the Liverpool fans at Anfield.
Marsch praises Liverpool & Klopp ahead of Leeds visit
Speaking to Sky Sports, the £80,000-a-week man said: “Anfield is an incredible place. Liverpool is one of the top clubs in the world. What Klopp has done there is a model for many clubs, and in some ways, a bit of the vision I’m trying to create here.”
There are definitely similarities between Marsch and Klopp.
The 48-year-old has often attempted to instil an intense, pressing style in his roles at RB Salzburg, RB Leipzig and now at Leeds.
Liverpool fans will know all too well about what Marsch is capable of when his men are firing, as seen when his RB Salzburg side came to Anfield in 2019 and gave the Reds a seriously tough game, despite eventually losing 4-3.
Marsch is also an engaged coach who loves to interact with the supporters, just like Klopp.
However, the American has a long way to go if he is to fully emulate the German, as pressure mounts on him at Elland Road.
Leeds are currently without a win in eight Premier League games, and find themselves in the relegation zone with just nine points from a possible 33 after 11 outings.
Leeds must take something from Liverpool
It is easier said than done, but Leeds must get a result at Anfield tonight, given the fixtures on the horizon.

The Whites face encounters with Tottenham, Manchester City and Newcastle in the weeks after tonight’s meeting with Liverpool, so Marsch could find himself in a tough position going into the World Cup.
Weirdly, tonight’s trip to Anfield actually represents Leeds’ best chance of picking up some points – despite Liverpool’s quality, they lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest last week, and are certainly vulnerable.
If Leeds suffer yet another defeat tonight, they could soon find themselves propping up the Premier League table given their challenging fixture list.
