Sean Longstaff is making an impression for Newcastle United’s under-23 side.
After a mixed spell as Newcastle United under-23 manager, Peter Beardsley has reason to smile; the emergence of a potentially top talent in the academy.
19-year-old attacking midfielder Sean Longstaff has been making a name for himself in recent weeks, and continues to impress.

Longstaff has scored eight goals in his last nine games, and also has four assists to his name this season too, with nine goals in total.
He bagged a hat-trick in the weekend’s 5-1 win over Hartlepool, also creating one, and also bagged last night in the win over Middlesbrough.
Speaking to the club’s official website after the Hartlepool game, Beardsley said: “Sean is on a good run at the moment, and that will give him confidence.
“He has a good energy about him, he can run beyond people, and he is always in the box. The more he scores, the better he is going to be.”

Longstaff can also play up front, and is a Newcastle lad, making him a potentially rare hometown hero the fans would celebrate.
The winning form of Newcastle’s first team in an ultra-competitive division makes it very difficult for Rafa Benitez to call him into the first team, but the longer Longstaff’s outstanding form continues, the tougher it will become for the Spaniard to ignore his feats.
