Trevor Sinclair has praised reported Liverpool and Manchester City target and Sevilla central defender Diego Carlos on Twitter.

The former City winger was impressed with the bicycle kick from the 27-year-old central defender late in the Europa League final for Sevilla against Inter Milan on Friday evening.

The effort from the Brazilian in the 74th minute was deflected into his own net by Inter striker Romelu Lukaku, as the Spanish club won the final 3-2.

A report in The Daily Star on July 29 claimed that Liverpool and City are interested in signing Carlos from Sevilla in the summer transfer window.

The report claimed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and City boss Pep Guardiola are set to go head-to-head to secure the services of the 27-year-old.

Mixed performance

While Carlos’s effort did end in Sevilla winning the Europa League final, the defender’s overall performance was rather mixed.

The Brazilian gave away a penalty to Inter, the third successive game in the Europa League in which he has done that.

However, Carlos was very good in possession and did look comfortable at the back against the Inter attackers.

According to WhoScored, the Brazilian took three shots of which none were on target, had a pass accuracy of 75.9%, won one header, took 39 touches, and made two clearances.
