Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso has earned high praise for his performance against Paraguay last night.

Argentina could only muster up a 1-1 draw against their South American rivals, but Lo Celso was one of the few players who managed to impress.

The Tottenham man was brought on as a first-half substituted and provided an assist for Nicolas Gonzalez’s goal.

Lo Celso was Argentina’s chief creator, with the country’s press saying that he outshone Messi.

In Ole he was given an 8/10 for his performance, which was the highest rating given to any player.

“From his entry (due to Palacios ‘injury) Argentina lifted, due to his dynamics and vertical play. He was the owner of the team,” they added.

Lo Celso was also praised in La Nacion, who suggested the Tottenham man’s introduction changed the game.

“Perhaps the most significant offensive change for Lionel Scaloni in the Argentine team during the match with Paraguay was the entry of Giovani Lo Celso for Palacios,” they wrote.

The reviews will be encouraging for Tottenham fans to read, as Lo Celso is still searching for his best form this term.

The playmaker suffered badly with injury over pre-season and is yet to hit the heights of last campaign, when he was one of Spurs’s most integral players.
