£7 million-rated Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-Jo is prioritising Wolves over Nantes after the Premier League outfit threw their name into the frame for the South Korea international, according to FootMercato.
Earlier this week, Nantes coach Antoine Kombouare confirmed that Hwang was his number one striker target heading into the final stretch of the transfer window.
Now, with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the mix, we’d recommend the former PSG boss starts looking a little further down his wishlist.
Because Hwang, FootMercato say, is ‘no longer really interested’ in joining Coupe de France holders Nantes. Why? Because Wolves are now offering him the chance to play Premier League football for the first time in his career.
Wolves leap into Hwang Ui-Jo race
Hwang is reportedly available for a cut-price £7 million after cash-strapped Bordeaux were relegated from Ligue 1.
That means the former Gamba Osaka forward should come a lot cheaper than the likes of Ben Brereton-Diaz, Eldor Shomurodov, Goncalo Ramos and Ludovic Ajorque. All of whom have also been linked with an August move to Molineux.
Hwang scored 11 times last season. Including a hat-trick against high-flying Strasbourg.

“Yes, he is a boy who is likely to leave, you know that,” admits Bordeaux coach David Guion. “Indeed, (Hwang) is likely to leave us in the coming days.”
If he moves to the Black Country between now and September, the 47-cap striker will reunite with namesake and fellow South Korea international Hwang Hee-Chan on English soil. Hee-Chan joined permanently from RB Leipzig after a rather hit-and-miss loan spell.
Interestingly, Hwang Ui-Jo admitted back in July that West Ham had made him an offer too. With Raul Jimenez out for the foreseeable future with a knee injury, however, Wolves appear to have slammed their foot onto the accelerator while zooming into pole position.
Bruno Lage’s strikerless side are also chasing Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi. According to 90Min, the nomadic Belgian would arrive on loan.
