Christian Eriksen wanted to leave Tottenham Hotspur last season, but his move to Inter Milan hasn’t really paid dividends.
After six-and-a-half years at Tottenham, the Danish playmaker decided he wanted to leave with his contract running down.
Spurs sold Eriksen in January of this year, allowing him to move on to Inter before he left for absolutely nothing.
Eriksen, 28, left Spurs with 69 goals and 89 assists in 305 games, but his form had notably dipped in the first half of last season – and he has struggled to get back to his best.
He has only managed four goals and three assists in 36 appearances for Inter, and played just one minute against Bologna on Saturday.
His torrid time at the San Siro means he is being linked with an early return to the Premier League, with Arsenal linked.
The Daily Star claim that Arsenal have turned down the chance to sign Eriksen, despite Mikel Arteta desperately needing creativity.
Now, Inter boss Antonio Conte has told Gianluca Di Marzio that his relationship with Eriksen is actually very good, but he is merely making the best decisions for Inter right now – and that currently means Eriksen misses out on a starting role even though he is available.
“The relationship is very good, but all the choices I make are for the best of Inter. Christian is working. At the moment he is available,” said Conte.
