Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the club’s official website that he is really impressed with attacker Kemar Roofe.

The Gers were in action on Sunday afternoon, and swept aside Aberdeen to move 11 points clear of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Ryan Kent’s superb solo strike put Rangers in front, before Roofe went on a run of his own and fired past Joe Lewis for number two.

A third deflected effort of the game found its way into the net as Scott Arfield made it 3-0, before James Tavernier scored from the spot when Leon Balogun was fouled.

This could have been a real banana skin for Rangers, but they were simply brilliant throughout, and coasted to another impressive victory and a clean sheet.

Roofe started on the right flank, joining Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos in attack, and he showed his great movement as he drew a Dons defender in before racing in behind to score.

The summer signing from Anderlecht took some time to get going due to injury, but now has six goals in his first 11 games for Rangers – and is earning huge praise from Gerrard.

Gerrard believes Roofe has already brought a lot to Rangers with his movement, and now he is fully fit and up to speed, he is in a ‘great place’ to make an impact at Ibrox.

“Kemar’s movement – he has brought a lot to the party,” said Gerrard. “He is up to speed and he is looking fit now – he is in a great place so we have got a lot of options,” he added.
