Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Diego Laxalt, after his stunning display in the Europa League draw against Lille on Thursday.

The Uruguay international was making his fourth start for the Hoops, having also began games against Rangers, AC Milan and Aberdeen in recent weeks.

Impressively, Neil Lennon’s men managed to hold the Ligue 1 outfit to a draw on their own turf, with Laxalt a key part of what was a phenomenal defensive display from an individual aspect.

According to SofaScore, the former Inter Milan defender made a massive 13 tackles. No player has recorded more than 11 in a single Europa League match since at least 2015/16, as SofaScore’s Twitter account revealed.

In addition to his monstrous defensive numbers, Laxalt made one key pass, and completed four of his attempted five dribbles successfully.

That wasn’t all that Celtic’s new No.93 did.

He was also responsible for four clearances and two interceptions, while he managed to find a teammate with four of his attempted five long-range passes.
