Trent Alexander-Arnold was terrific as Liverpool beat Manchester City.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gave the nod to youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold last night instead of Nathaniel Clyne and the decision paid off.
19-year-old Alexander-Arnold was terrific as the Reds beat Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals, winning 3-0.
He was tenacious, effective, and got better and better as the game went on as he shut down dangerous City winger Leroy Sane.
| Team | Won Tackles | Interceptions | Effective Clearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trent Alexander-Arnold | Liverpool | 2 | 7 | 10 | 90 |
Alexander-Arnold made more interceptions than the rest of Liverpool’s defence combined (5), and his 10 clearances were higher than any of his teammates.
The full-back has had a couple of shaky moments for the Reds in recent weeks, including at the weekend against Crystal Palace.

Jurgen Klopp could easily have dropped him for last night’s game after the way he was caught out, and he will be glad he kept faith in the teenager.
Alexander-Arnold’s performance should put him into the discussion for a World Cup place this summer, with the youngster proving his ability to step up and deliver in the most highly pressurised game of his career.
