Leeds United’s strong defensive record will be put to the test this weekend when they visit Millwall, and will be met by a familiar face.
Former Whites forward Steve Morison will lead the line for the Lions and is set for a bruising encounter with Leeds’ centre-back Pontus Jansson.
Leeds have not conceded a goal for the past six league games, and recent trends suggest Morison could struggle to break them down.
His return to the Championship has been tough, and he has failed to score in his first seven games of the season.
The 34-year-old signed for Leeds in 2012 as part of a swap deal which sent fan favourite Luciano Becchio to Norwich City.
This immediately put him under pressure and Morison failed to match the Argentine’s goal return.
He was a regular in the 2014/15 season under Neil Redfearn, but only scored two league goals in 26 games.
Millwall are in 19th place while Leeds are first, a position they never once occupied during Morison’s time at Elland Road.
Leeds have their new striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, whose addition from Hamburg shows how far they have come in the past couple of years.
Yet despite Morison’s recent lack of goals this season, you can never quite count out the possibility of him being the one to end Leeds’ tremendous defensive record.
