Here are the 7 clubs with the most players at the 2018 World Cup

7. Bayern Munich, Manchester United & Juventus – 11

It’s a three-way tie for seventh place, between German, English and Italian giants. The three most successful clubs from their respective countries, Bayern Munich and Juventus both won league titles last season, whilst Manchester Utd finished a distant second to cross-city rivals Manchester City. Juventus’ inclusion is perhaps the most impressive, since Italy failed to qualify for the finals in Russia, meanwhile seven of Bayern’s players are representing Germany and four of Manchester United’s represent England.

=4. Chelsea – 12

Premier League clubs unsurprisingly dominate this seven, and tied with a couple of other clubs as having 12 players in Russia, Chelsea come in at sixth. Somewhat surprisingly, only two of Chelsea’s 12 players in Russia can be found in the England squad, the same number of players they have in both the France and Belgium squads.

=4. Tottenham – 12

Tied with Chelsea on 12 players at the 2018 World Cup are their London rivals Tottenham. There are five Tottenham players in Gareth Southgate’s 23 man England squad, including starters Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kieran Trippier and a should-be starter in the form of Danny Rose. Tottenham also have three players in the Belgium squad, one in the French squad, one in the South Korea squad, one in the Colombia squad and one in the Denmark squad.

=4. PSG – 12

The last of three teams with 12 players participating at the World Cup in Russia are PSG. Slightly surprisingly, the Ligue 1 champions only have three players in the French national team, the same number of players they have in Tite’s Brazil setup.

3. Barcelona – 14

An inevitable inclusion in this seven, Barcelona have 14 players at this summers World Cup finals. There are only four Barca players in the Spanish squad in 2018, compared to seven when they won the tournament in 2010. Other notable Barcelona players at the finals include Luis Suarez of Uruguay, Philippe Coutinho of Brazil and Lionel Messi of Argentina.

2. Real Madrid – 15

The club side with the second most players at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia are consecutive three-time European champions Real Madrid. Real boast six players in the Spanish squad, including Isco who was superb in Spain’s opening game against Portugal. Real also have a couple of players in the Brazil squad, and one of the tournaments early stars in Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portugal squad.

1. Manchester City – 16

Leading the way with the most players represented at the World Cup in Russia are Premier League title winners and record point winners Manchester City. That should perhaps come as little surprise given the combination of the club’s enormous spending power and the incredible season they have just had under Pep Guardiola. Many people may feel 16 ought to be 17, with Joachim Low’s surprising exclusion of Leroy Sane from the national team setup. There are four Manchester City players in both the England and Brazil squads, as well as a couple in the Argentine and Belgian camps.
