If it wasn’t obvious before, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli is a good footballer.
A really good footballer.
The 20-year-old has been among the stars of this young and vibrant Arsenal squad this season, netting five Premier League goals in 19 outings.
Nothing seems to faze the South American and based on footage emanating from Brazil this morning, this is a player who is close to becoming an absolute monster for the Gunners.
Martinelli, who joined Arsenal for only £6 million during the summer of 2019 [Goal], has gone viral after a wonderful bit of skill which almost resulted in a stunning goal.
He came on in the 54th minute of Brazil’s 4-0 victory over Bolivia and almost got among the goals himself, clipping narrowly wide of the post 20 minutes after coming on.
However, it was the skill which fashioned that chance in the first place which has Arsenal and neutral supporters cooing on social media, having executed a faultless pirouette to beat his man.
Had Neymar demonstrated the same brilliance and still missed, the footage would’ve still gone viral.
But this was the Gunners’ youngster’s second senior appearance for his country and do something as brazen as that – and come within inches of completing the trick – well that shows a special confidence.

Martinelli is absolutely fearless and no doubt that Arsenal will be the beneficiaries of this mentality going forward.
He’s going to be a massive player for the North Londoners.
