Former Sheffield United target Yann Karamoh could finally end up in the Championship with the one-time Inter Milan winger now on Burnley’s radar, as reported by the Daily Mail.

With Dwight McNeil completing his £20 million to Everton on Thursday – and with speculation surrounding Maxwel Cornet’s future ongoing – you can expect Burnley’s pursuit of attacking additions to go into overdrive between now and the end of August.

Royal Antwerp’s Manuel Benson this week confirmed reports suggesting he could be on his way to Turf Moor. The Clarets have reportedly seen an opening bid of £1.5 million turned down.

And The Mail now add Karamoh’s name to Vincent Kompany’s sprawling hit-list.

The former France U21 international joined Serie A giants Inter Milan back in 2017 after bursting onto the scene with Caen, some labelling the jet-heeled winger the second coming of Kylian Mbappe

Now back at second-tier Parma after a rather underwhelming loan spell in Turkey, it’s fair to say Karamoh has fallen some way short of Mbappe’s trajectory. But the Ivory Coast international is still just 24 years of age, and could be a risk worth taking with less than 12 months remaining on his contract.

Can Burnley sign Yann Karamoh?

Karamoh missed out on a move to Sheffield United last summer, however, due to work permit problems. It remains to be seen if Burnley can overcome similar issues, with Karamoh’s lack of international experience likely to count against him.

He is yet to earn a single cap for either France or the Ivory Coast, the country of his birth.

“There was a regulatory situation that prevented his transfer (to Sheffield United),” the winger’s agent explained at the time.

“Yann has qualities that are not ordinary,” Eric Bedouet, former Bordeaux coach, said during Karamoh’s loan spell in Wine Country.

“He’s got great intensity. He can make the difference when you need it most, which is not a common trait amongst most players. He’s a fantastic dribbler and is still growing. A very interesting prospect.”
