According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are taking a look at French youngster Florent Indalecio.

The Magpies have allegedly taken the playmaker on trial, and he has been playing in Under-23 games during pre-season.

Newcastle have yet to take a decision on a deal for Indalecio, but he is understood to have scored a stunning overhead kick in training.

Indalecio was in the Saint-Etienne ranks, but was dismissed for bad behaviour – and is coming back to Europe after playing in Australia with Fraser Park FC.

Primarily a number 10, Indalecio is already 23, so it may be a long shot to earn a deal with Newcastle – but they have shown a willingness to delve deep for hidden gems.

Just last summer, Newcastle signed unknown French youngster Ludwig Francillette, and a move for Indalecio has a similar feel to it.

Indalecio told ASSE News Feed earlier this year that he was ‘rowdy and cheeky’ as a kid, and simply moved to Australia with a friend when he didn’t have a club.

The midfielder took a part-time job as a builder whilst also playing amateur football in Australia, so Newcastle’s interest could see Indalecio earn a dream rise.
