Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is a big fan of the man who Tottenham Hotspur have just hired.
Spurs revealed this morning Marco Savorani has joined the club as part of Antonio Conte’s backroom staff.
Savorani is a goalkeeping coach and will work closely with Hugo Lloris and Pierluigi Golini at Hotspur Way, among others.
Liverpool have one of the best goalkeepers in world football and interestingly, the Brazilian has worked with the new Tottenham man in the past.
Alisson, a £66 million signing in 2018, worked under Savorani at Roma.
And here’s what the big man said about the Lilywhites’ latest appointment back in 2018.
He said to Gazzetta Dello Sport: “I learned a lot in Italy thanks to the goalkeeper coach Marco Savorani, who was crucial for the growth of me and Szczesny.
“He’s one of the most important people in my life, he helped me both on and off the pitch.”
Gratitude
You can’t really credit Savorani with Alisson becoming one of the world’s finest goalkeepers.
But by virtue of Alisson’s gratitude toward the new Tottenham coach, you could certainly argue that he played a significant role in guiding him toward an elite level.
Liverpool spending £66 million on a goalkeeper is testament to how highly rated the big Brazilian was.
And it’ll be fascinating to see if Savorani can help take some of Conte’s goalkeeping options to the next level in North London.
