It looks like Konstantinos Mavropanos has no plans on sticking around at Arsenal beyond this summer.

The big Greek defender has impressed away from the Gunners while on loan with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.

Mikel Arteta and Edu rendered him surplus to requirements last summer and there was no room for him at Arsenal.

There is no guarantee that they’ll feel the same way about the 23-year-old this summer, with David Luiz out of contract and Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos having been cut loose.

And although Mavropanos has confirmed a summer return to North London, the big centre-back, who stands at 6’4, has revealed that he’d quite like to go straight back to Germany’s top flight next term.

He said to Stuttgarter Nachrichten: “My contract at Stuttgart ends in the summer and then I will return to Arsenal for the time being. But I can already see myself playing here for another year, because I feel good at Stuttgart.”

Mavropanos was signed by Sven Mislintat at Arsenal in the final few months of Arsene Wenger’s reign and the German – now at Stuttgart – is clearly a big fan of his.

If Mavropanos does leave the Emirates Stadium side again this summer, it’ll more than likely be on a permanent deal.

There isn’t much value in Arsenal loaning him out for a second time and definitely not with his contract up in 2023, meaning he’d only have a year left by the time he returns again.
