It seems like Arsenal-owned defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has picked up yet another injury.
The Greek centre-back has been impressing on loan at Bundesliga 2 side Nurnberg since January.
Since their return to the German second tier, the 22-year-old, who was one of Arsene Wenger’s last signings as Arsenal boss, has started six games.
But he missed one game last month due to injury – and has now just missed another.
Jens Keller, head coach of the club, told Nurnberg’s official Twitter on Tuesday that he’d miss the 6-0 victory away to SV Wehen Wiesbaden, but didn’t specify the nature of the issue.
He said: “Mavropanos is one of the players who have problems. So we have to wait for training and treatment. “
This might not be a huge concern for the Arsenal youngster – who stands at 6’4 – but, then again, it might.
That’s because Mavropanos has been unavailable for 32 games for the Gunners, despite only joining two-and-a-half years ago, and he missed 117 days during the 2018-19 campaign [Transfermarkt].
He wouldn’t have played the vast majority of them anyway, considering that Unai Emery seemed to go cold on him, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that he’s getting a reputation as an injury-prone player.
And one can only hope that this is a minor issue rather than another long-term one.
