Unfortunately for Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea look like they’re about to beat them to the signing of Anthony Gordon.

Both Premier League rivals are linked with a move to bring the Everton attacker to London during the final nine days of the transfer window.

Earlier this week it was reported that Tottenham were willing to pay £35 million to capture the 21-year-old.

However, Chelsea are capable of blowing the North Londoners out of the water and, according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, the Stamford Bridge outfit are open to paying a staggering £60 million to lure him from Goodison Park.

Solhekol has also added that the player himself has his heart set on a move to West London.

He told Sky Sports News: “Chelsea are prepared to pay £60 million to Everton for him. They say the player is not for sale. He has so far refused to sign that [new deal at Goodison]. As far as the player himself is concerned, I think he wants to move to Chelsea. He wants Champions League football.”

In fariness, joining the Blues over Spurs makes a lot more sense.

Tottenham are certainly not short on wide players, with Antonio Conte bringing Ivan Perisic and Richarlison – who can be used as a winger – to Hotspur Way during the summer transfer window.

Remember, Conte also has Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura at the club.

Some critics will argue that he won’t play regularly at Chelsea, but he definitely won’t be getting his game every week under the Italian manager.

Of course, he could always simply stay at Everton but, as the Sky reporter pointed out, he is refusing a contract extension at the moment.

It seems like Gordon himself has made his mind up and it’ll be fascinating to see if Thomas Tuchel is successful.
