With one week until transfer deadline day Here Is The City looks at the players from Spurs who may be looking for a fresh start elsewhere.
Heurelho Gomes
Now that Harry Redknapp has marked Brad Friedel as his number one, Gomes could end up making a deadline day move. His talent in unquestionable, it is just his concentration which needs improving.
Sebastien Bassong
Since signing from Newcastle he has never really hit it off at White Hart Lane. Defence is one of the club’s weak points, but if Spurs were able to agree a deal with Christopher Samba, then they would be more likely to let him go. A swap deal is still a possibility.
Wilson Palacios
The Honduran man-mountain has really slipped down the pecking order at Spurs in the past 12 months. Stoke are his most likely suitors and a deal could suit both parties.
Jermaine Jenas
Once an England international, once a hot-prospect, Jenas’ career has stalled and is in need of a kick-start. Stoke or West Brom would be a good move for him if terms can be agreed.
Luka Modric
The man responsible for one of the most drawn-out sagas of the summer. Many fans feel the Croat should just be sold freeing up £30 million to spend, however time is fast running out.
Peter Crouch
Rumours persist about Crouch moving to Stoke where he would undoubtedly continue to score goals. A recent link with AC Milan came as a bit of a shock, but his stock abroad is valued higher as opponents not used to his gangly presence struggle to work him out. It is this factor which has made him a success at international level, and if Adebayor arrives, his Spurs days are likely to be over.
It’s difficult to know with Gomes, Bassong and Palacios whether these moves are a consequence of Harry’s wheeling and dealings gone wrong or the inevitable churn as squad standards are improved. We’ll certainly know at the end of the season.
