Sky Sports are reporting Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban on loan until the end of the season.
According to the Daily Mail, Cardiff City and Leeds United were also interested in Grabban, who scored 12 goals in 20 games for Sunderland during the first half of the campaign. However, Aston Villa look to have got their man.
Speaking of Sunderland, the Sun report that Middlesbrough’s Ashley Fletcher is a loan target for the Mackems, who have yet to replace Grabban and have lost James Vaughan as well.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Wolverhampton Wanderers look set to sign Coventry City midfielder Ben Stevenson.
According to the Sun, the 20-year-old is undergoing a medical at Wolves.
One lower league player who won’t be moving on, however, is Wigan Athletic’s Nick Powell – at least that’s what the Daily Mail are reporting.
They claim Brighton & Hove Albion have made an improved £5 million bid for Powell, but were informed it would take treble that (£15 million!) to prise the attacking midfielder away.
And finally, to the Premier League now, where a trio of clubs – Manchester City, Arsenal and Powell’s old side Manchester United – are on alert after Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl switched agents, according to the Daily Mirror.
Weigl’s new representatives, SportsToral, are said to have strong links to the Premier League’s top clubs, which looks to have increased his chances of a move to England.
It is claimed that City, United and Arsenal have watched Weigl on several occasions this season and have him on their list of summer midfield targets.
