Manchester United have been linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Carlos Mane, but they look set to sell another winger, leaving him unlikely to leave this summer.

Sporting Lisbon are reportedly set to sell Diego Capel to Olympiakos this summer, leaving them far less likelt to part with reported Manchester United target Carlos Mane.

Mane has been linked with United since he burst onto the scene earlier this season, and despite having a reported release-clause of €45million, the 20-year-old is believed by many to be exactly the kind of electrifying winger required at Old Trafford.

Mane has played on both flanks this season – despite being predominantly a right-sided player – but with Diego Capel set to leave, Mane could be set for a prolonged and vital place in the team in the future.

Portugese newspaper A Bola claims Diego Capel is heading to Greece for a fee in the region of €5million, while rival publication Record actually cites Mane’s rise to prominence as the “end of the line” for Capel.

Given that, it is highly unlikely Sporting would then sell Mane to United, or anyone else for that matter.

United’s previous good working relationship with Sporting – which saw both Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani head to England – could stand the Red Devils in good stead if they do want Mane in the future.

But with another winger tipped to leave, and the young star just starting out, those fans at Old Trafford hoping for some new, effective and exciting wide-men may have to wait a while longer if they want Mane to be one of them.
