Leeds United are set to miss out on Nottingham Forest striker Sam Surridge as he nears a move to Nashville SC.

Sam Surridge will not be joining Leeds United this summer as he instead prepares to make a move to the United States.

That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Nashville SC have now made their move to sign Surridge.

It’s stated that a deal has now been agreed between Nashville and Forest with a £5million fee put forward.

The report claims that Surridge has interest from a host of Championship clubs but wants a move to Major League Soccer.

Forest paid £2.2million to sign Surridge in January 2022 and are now offloading the striker for more than twice the price.

Leeds United miss out on Sam Surridge

This agreement with Nashville means that Leeds United will miss out on signing Surridge.

The Athletic reported earlier in July that Leeds were considering a move to sign Surridge.

The Whites are back in the second tier once again and seemed to be prioritising Championship-ready players.

The names mentioned in that Athletic piece were Surridge, Joel Piroe, Karl Darlow, Gustavo Hamer, Han-Noah Massengo, Nat Phillips and Charlie Taylor.

There are a lot of Championship appearances in that list with Leeds trying to go down the tried-and-tested route – especially having landed two-time promotion winner Daniel Farke.

Surridge won’t be along for the ride though, seemingly preferring to test himself in the United States over another Championship run.

Daniel Farke needs a new striker this summer

Leeds have lost Rodrigo with the Spanish attacker completing a move to Qatar with Al Rayyan.

The Whites do still have Patrick Bamford but he has struggled for form and fitness in the last couple of years.

Georginio Rutter is still waiting for lift-off at Leeds but new boss Farke allegedly sees him as more of a wide forward than a central striker.

That means Leeds simply have to go into the market to try and find a proven Championship striker.

It isn’t going to be Surridge, but we are expecting to see Leeds move in for other targets soon with the Championship kickoff looming.
