Jonson Clarke-Harris has suggested on Quest TV that he will not be forcing through any move to Glasgow Rangers or elsewhere this summer.

The Bristol Post have claimed that Steven Gerrard is looking at bringing Clarke-Harris to Ibrox with Rangers in the summer.

The £5 million rated striker (Bristol Post) has bagged 31 goals this season to fire Peterborough to promotion.

However, he was directly asked about Rangers’ interest yesterday.

And Clarke-Harris has hinted that a move away from Posh is not really on his mind at the moment.

“I’ve got a contract with Peterborough for the next three years and I respect my contract, I respect the club and any decision that the owner makes – he makes,” he said when asked about links with Rangers, West Bromwich Albion and CSKA Moscow.

“But I’m happy and I respect my contract at Peterborough.

“It [the aim] was never to come here and be sold for millions, otherwise I wouldn’t have signed such a lengthy contract with the club, it was always to get promoted.

“Now I’m back in the Championship I feel like I deserve my fair crack at the Championship.”

If Clarke-Harris does stay with Posh then Darren Ferguson’s side will surely be relying on him to score the goals to keep them in the second tier.

The appeal of a move to Rangers right now is clear though, and if a bid was to be accepted from Gerrard’s side, then any transfer would surely be difficult to turn down.

Rangers could have Champions League football on offer, if they make it through the qualification stages, and have a league title to defend after dominating Scottish football this term.
