It looks like Marko Grujic is heading back to Liverpool at the end of this month.
The 24-year-old has dazzled during a two-year loan with Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin.
In fact, it was only a couple of weeks ago that Liverpool fans were left praising the towering midfielder for his performance against Leipzig.
Hertha’s season isn’t scheduled to end for a few more months, prompting suggestions that the Serbian could see his loan extended until the end of the 2019-20 campaign, but that won’t be happening.
The German club’s sporting director Michael Preetz has revealed via Goal.com that Grujic is ‘100 percent certain’ to return to Anfield by June 30, with the Reds already agreeing to the comeback.
He said: “It is 100 per cent certain that the loan agreement between us and Liverpool and the contract with Marko Grujic will end on June 30.
“It has been agreed by both clubs that he will return to Liverpool. The conclusion of this loan agreement over the past two years is very positive and it has had positive effects on everyone who has been involved.”
Does he have a future at Liverpool? Well, probably not.
Jurgen Klopp is spoiled for choice with regards to midfielders and with the club in talks to extend Gini Wijnaldum’s contract, there doesn’t seem to be much room for him.
Grujic, a £5.1 million signing four years ago, is a top prospect, but he needs regular football to improve and the fact is he just won’t get it under Klopp next season.
