According to The Sun, Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has won over boss Mikel Arteta with his ‘commitment, attitude and dedication’.
It’s claimed that nobody wanted to buy Mustafi in January, when Arteta was just one month into the Arsenal job.
Since then, Arteta has become a fan of the German international, and he has been turning his Arsenal career around gradually.
Arteta is allegedly a fan of Mustafi as a person, and that has given him faith in Mustafi as a player too as he has featured regularly of late.
The 28-year-old could end up winning a new contract at Arsenal as a result of his form, and nobody could have really expected that under Unai Emery.
Mustafi is becoming one of the success stories of the Arteta reign, and he was effusive with his praise of the defender’s training and attitude following Saturday’s 2-0 win over Wolves.

“Musti’s attitude, the way he is training, attention levels, the questions he is asking and how much he wants to help everybody has been really good since I joined,” said Arteta.
It seems that the 2016 signing from Valencia has found his best form again, and is no longer a derided player being tipped for the exit.
There will be big tests ahead for Mustafi, but he is in a much better position than he was six months ago – and he deserves praise for his turnaround.
