Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has sent a heartwarming package to former Reds defender Dejan Lovren.
The 59-cap Croatia international recently departed Anfield for Zenit in a £10.9 million deal, having spent six years on Merseyside.
Lovren wasn’t always the most popular figure outside Melwood to say the least. The ex-Southampton man often had a mistake in him, with club legend Jamie Carragher calling him out on the Maych x Pajak podcast (1:05:00) following a 3-0 defeat to Watford last term.
However, Henderson’s gift to the centre-back speaks volumes as to how much the 31-year-old was loved by all inside the club.
Liverpool’s number 14 penned a heartfelt tribute to his ex-teammate, stating how much he will be missed. The Sunderland academy graduate also sent Lovren a replica of the Premier League trophy.

It is an inspirational gesture from the captain and one that says a lot about how much the defender boosted squad morale and togetherness at Anfield.
Players such as the Croatian can often be undervalued by supporters, who only judge what they see on the pitch.

Additionally, the fact Liverpool’s skipper took time to do such a thing shows the club is in safe hands regarding leadership.
Hopefully Henderson’s gesture will go some way to helping the Anfield faithful realise how influential Lovren really was, in the background at least.
