Newcastle United may have a window of opportunity to snap up Chelsea wide man Christian Pulisic this summer.

The London Evening Standard reported on Thursday that Chelsea will put Pulisic up for sale.

It was suggested that Chelsea would make Mateo Kovacic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly available alongside Pulisic.

Chelsea clearly need to clear the decks this summer having brought in a raft of players over the last year.

The Blues will hope to bring in serious cash for some fringe players in order to help balance the books a little.

One such player could be Pulisic, who Chelsea paid £58million to sign from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

The American just hasn’t lived up to his billing at Chelsea and could be on the move for a fraction of the price this summer.

Newcastle United have a decision to make on Christian Pulisic

Newcastle have been one of the clubs most heavily linked with a move for Pulisic of late.

90Min reported in February that Newcastle had Pulisic on their radar for a summer move.

This came after The Sunday Mirror (11/12, p68) reported that Newcastle wanted to sign Pulisic permanently for around £40million.

No January deal was done and, in truth, Newcastle may not even need to pay that much for Pulisic anymore.

The question now is whether Newcastle really want to push for him.

The Magpies may well want another winger but adding a left-footer would surely be a priority.

Newcastle already have right-footed wingers in Jacob Murphy, Allan Saint-Maximin and January signing Anthony Gordon.

Adding Pulisic into that mix would be a huge surprise, especially amid links to left-footed wingers like Moussa Diaby and Raphinha.

The door appears to be open for Newcastle to go and make their move for Pulisic, but we wonder whether the Magpies will now look elsewhere this summer.
