Celtic marksman Odsonne Edouard has revealed that scoring away at Rangers this past season was his favourite goal of the 2019-20 campaign.
The Hoops sent out a message to their Old Firm rivals last September by winning 2-0 at Ibrox.
Edouard opened the scoring for Celtic against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side that day, slotting past Allan McGregor in the first half.
As a celebration, the Frenchman made a ‘calm down’ gesture with his hands toward the furious Gers’ supporters in attendance.
Here’s what the 23-year-old said about the goal via The Scottish Sun, nine months on: “The goal against Rangers at Ibrox in September was my favourite of the season. I didn’t plan the celebration, it just happened at the time.
“Every time I touched the ball, the Rangers fans, they weren’t happy about it, they weren’t happy with me. My goal was a good answer to that, and the celebration matched it. I think the Celtic fans liked it too!”
Celtic fans will be desperate to see Edouard scoring against Rangers next year too; not because it’s always a joy for them to see goals against their bitter Glasgow rivals, but because it’ll mean that the £9 million striker has agreed to stick around for 10-in-a-row.
Next season is massive in Glasgow because if the Hoops win the Premiership, it’ll be their 10th league title in a row.
From a Rangers perspective, that simply can’t happen but Gerrard’s hands might be tied if the linked-away hitman is sticking around for one more season.
