Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho was a wanted man before the global pandemic hit. Now, he may simply be too expensive to pursue now.
The wide man was being linked with a nine-figure move this summer earlier in the year. Now though, clubs are having to be careful financially, and may no longer be in a position to sign Sancho.
With 20 goals and 20 assists this season, the 20-year-old has been in ridiculous form. He’s virtually averaging a goal involvement every game, which is outstanding productivity.
Unsurprisingly, Sancho has been linked with a return to England. He left Manchester City in 2017, but heading to the Premier League has been rumoured for some time.
The Independent recently noted that Manchester United want Sancho, but their bitter rivals Liverpool are also keen to bring him to the North West.
The problem for Liverpool is finances. They backed away from a deal for Timo Werner due to concerns over the money involved, and Sancho would be even more expensive.

Sancho’s wage demands would spark improvements for a number of Liverpool players, but he allegedly sees Liverpool as a ‘more attractive option’ than United right now.
Now, Sebastien Kehl was commented on the issue. Kehl – whose job title is the rather convoluted ‘head of the licensed player division’ at Dortmund – has told Sky that there is no truth in the new Liverpool rumours, and Sancho is expected to stay put this summer.
“There is no new update at all. We had a few issues with Jadon in the last week, but we all cleared them up.” said Kehl. “He played a great game afterwards and does a good job. He is incredibly important. We continue to assume that he will stay and play for Borussia Dortmund next season. Regarding the rumours [around Liverpool], I can say that there is nothing to it,” he added.
