Tottenham Hotspur fans are generally disappointed to hear that Jan Vertonghen now appears set to depart in the summer.
The London Evening Standard claim that Vertonghen is expected to pen a contract extension with Spurs to keep him at the club until the summer, but he will then move on on a free transfer.
Vertonghen has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs this season, but has been a loyal servant to the club.
And many Tottenham supporters suggest that they are disappointed that the Belgian is departing.
Vertonghen has shown signs of age this season and struggled to nail down a place in Tottenham’s starting line-up.
The experienced defender appears to have lost a yard of pace, and he has visibly struggled through games at times.
Vertonghen has previously been one of the best defenders in the Premier League though, and if he is to leave Spurs this summer he will be very fondly remembered at the North London club.
