Celtic are on the hunt for a new manager.

Neil Lennon quit his role as Hoops boss earlier this week following the 1-0 defeat by Ross County last weekend.

That result left Celtic 18 points behind Premiership leaders Rangers, who are certain to end the Bhoys’ historic bid to win 10 league titles in a row.

Whether he walked or not, Lennon was never going to be in charge by the start of next season and now the Parkhead club have the difficult job of replacing him.

Quite a lot of names have been touted – some more credible than others – but one man who definitely isn’t going in for the job is David Moyes

The West Ham United boss is overseeing a spectacular season in East London, with Moyes’s side sitting fourth in the Premier League table after 25 games.

The 57-year-old has previously admitted his interest in managing Celtic, but that certainly isn’t the case right now as Moyes emphatically ruled himself out.

He said to The Standard: “I’ve got no intentions of going anywhere. I’ve already spoken to David Sullivan, we’re up to date and things are quietly ticking along.

“I don’t want anything to get in the way of what we’re doing just now. I’m not going to come out and say I’m signing a big contract or doing anything else that in any way might change things around. I just really want to go about the job and try and be professional.”

John Kennedy, Lennon’s former assistant, is taking charge of Celtic on an interim basis and his short-term reign begins with a visit of Aberdeen this afternoon.
