Lucas Ocampos has issued a bullish response to claims suggesting he’s eyeing a summer move to Liverpool, telling Marca he couldn’t be happier at La Liga giants Sevilla.
If Jurgen Klopp feels a fading Reds side needs an injection of fresh blood, what better than a forward who represents the perfect blend of technique and tenacity, an all-action, goalscoring wideman tailor-made for the German’s ‘heavy metal football’?
According to El Intransigente, Argentina international Ocampos would welcome the chance to compete with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane for a starting berth at Anfield.
Then again, what is reported is not always true.
And the former Marseille, Monaco and AC Milan forward couldn’t have made his feelings clearer when asked about life at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.
“(Being at Sevilla) makes me feel happy. I am showing it on and off the field and that makes the performance of a player totally different,” says Ocampos, who has a £56 million release clause in his contract.

“Since I arrived, (Sevilla) have given me enormous confidence and that makes me play at the level I am at today. I work every day to stay there.
“(Sevilla) is a club that always wants to fight for big things. For a player, it is good to feel that pressure. We are always there fighting (for trophies).”
With 17 goals and five assists, Ocampos enjoyed the best season of his nomadic career as Sevilla defeated Wolves, Manchester United and Inter Milan en route to Europa League glory in 2019/20.
