Liverpool fans really don’t like reports suggesting that Divock Origi could be traded for Kalidou Koulibaly.
Napoli Magazine suggest that Liverpool could be prepared to sacrifice Origi to try and get a cheaper price for the Napoli centre-back.
But most Reds fans think that the deal, which would still cost them £53 million, makes little sense.
There is no doubting that Koulibaly and Virgil van Dijk would make an intimidating defensive pairing at Liverpool.
However, the Reds’ defence has already been the best in the Premier League this season and there must be question marks over whether Koulibaly would be needed.
Joe Gomez has impressed over the course of the season, and at the age of 23 looks to have far more years ahead of him than Koulibaly, who is 29.
Liverpool are only thought to have a limited budget to spend this summer, and it seems more likely that Jurgen Klopp will look to strengthen up-top than in defence.
