Tottenham Hotspur are expected to mount a sustained challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Pundit Robbie Savage offered his opinion on Spurs’ Premier League title hopes this season, and jokingly made reference to the fact that they have been a club in progress since they last won the league, during a question and answer session for the Mirror.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have impressed so far this season, after successfully navigating a tricky period earlier on this term, and now sit in third position in the Premier League table, just seven points behind league leaders Chelsea.

And the Lilywhites are one of England’s in-form teams at the moment – currently in the midst of a six game winning streak in all competitions.

But Savage isn’t convinced of their title credentials.

He jokingly responded to a comment from a fan highlighting that they are still a work in progress, telling the Mirror:

“The trouble with Tottenham winning the title, is that it’s been a work in progress for 56 years now.”

Tottenham face some huge games over this next month, with trips to Manchester City and Liverpool on the horizon, and what fantastic opportunities those games will be for them to prove Savage, amongst others, wrong.

Next up for Pochettino’s men though, is a home game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
