Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Allan McGregor had signed a new one-year contract extension.

After the 39-year-old put pen to paper, he will now stay at Ibrox until at least the summer of 2022 – by which time he’ll be 40.

The 42-cap Scotland international has enjoyed a brilliant campaign for his boyhood club this season.

McGregor has made 37 appearances this term, in which he’s conceded just 27 goals in what is an astonishing record.

The former Hull shot-stopper has also kept a whopping 20 clean sheets, which is absolutely brilliant to say the least.

McGregor also won the Scottish Premiership with his beloved Gers for the first time in a decade, having last won it in 2011.

Next season will be the glovesman’s 13th campaign at Ibrox – he really has become a club legend in Glasgow.

Across those many seasons, McGregor has racked up a mind-boggling 388 appearances.

Of course, his new deal should see him surpass the 400 mark, something that very few players have done for Rangers.

At his age, some might decide to call it a day.

However, it is admirable to see his desire to carry on and extend his playing career.

Let’s see what the Rangers fans on Twitter have been saying about McGregor’s new contract…
