A compatriot has revealed that Marian Shved was happy to leave Celtic in January, only for the Hoops to block the transfer.
Shved joined the Bhoys a little over a year ago but has had a rotten first season in Glasgow.
The Ukraine international has managed only 15 minutes of senior football in the Premiership this season, and played five minutes in a Scottish Cup win at Clyde in February.
The 22-year-old has struggled in a major way since arriving at Parkhead last summer.
And according to Vasyl Kravets, also 22, the player wanted to join a Spanish club on loan during the winter transfer window.
Kravets, who plays for Segunda side Ludo, has revealed that his fellow Ukrainian was up for a switch to Spain, but Celtic ‘blocked the move’ because they wanted their winger to be speaking English regularly.
He told The Record: “Marian almost signed for us on loan in the last transfer window. He was happy to come here. But Celtic blocked the move. They wanted him to sign for a team that was closer to Glasgow.
“He would only be allowed to move to a team where he could communicate in English, so the deal was off.”
If true, and if Shved did want to go, then it’ll only compound his disappointment.
That being said, Celtic seem committed to making it work with the former Karpaty Lviv winger.
They want him to learn English for a reason and that’s probably because the coaches at Lennoxtown feel that there’s enough talent there and maybe, just maybe, he would improve if he could integrate with the players better.
