Tyler Roberts has revealed that he might be moved to tears if Leeds United are playing in the Premier League next season.
The Championship season was suspended two months ago due to the global health emergency.
At the time, Leeds were top of the table and boasted a seven-point cushion in the automatic promotion places, with nine games to go.
There has been no clarity on whether the Whites – who have been absent from the top flight since 2004 – will go up, as we await a decision on how the 2019-20 campaign will be concluded.
But Roberts, a £4 million signing by the Elland Road club in 2018 [Daily Mail], has admitted that he might get emotional if it transpires that Marcelo Bielsa’s side will be back in the big time.
He told Leeds’ website: “To do it would be a crazy, indescribable feeling, you might see me with a few tears. More special because we’ve kept the same team as last season, so a lot of the hurt and pain we went through together, we’ve been able to take it, bounce back together, not made loads of changes and just got stronger.”
Even if Leeds do go up, a lot of fans will be a bit disappointed. They won’t be frustrated at the end result, because obviously promotion is the be all and end all and has been for many years.
But they might be denied the celebration, the chance to have the biggest party that West Yorkshire has seen for many years and that will hurt if the season is finished early and the table remains how it is.
Then again, the wound might heal when they’re going to Old Trafford next term.
