Crystal Palace are now set to appoint Adi Hutter as their new manager – despite interest from Leicester.

What’s the story?

Well – according to KurierCrystal Palace have decided to appoint the Austrian as their replacement for Roy Hodgson.

It comes after BILD claimed that Hutter is an option for Leicester as they attempt to replace Brendan Rodgers.

Kurier believe the 53-year-old will bring Klaus Schmidt to Selhurst Park with him as his No.2 once the 2022/23 campaign is over and Hodgson departs.

Interestingly, the 75-year-old may not be departing SE25 entirely, as the Telegraph believe Crystal Palace want him to stay on in an advisory role.

If Kurier are to be trusted, then Hutter would become only the second Austrian to manage in the Premier League after Ralph Hasenhuttl, who was sacked by Southampton back in November.

What Crystal Palace fans can expect from Adi Hutter

The instant reaction to this rumour is largely a feeling of confusion amongst the Crystal Palace supporters, given the fact Hutter is far from a household name.

Seeing as he has never managed in the Premier League, it is impossible to say whether he will succeed in south London or not, although his track record certainly makes for good reading.

Hutter enjoyed a tremendous time at Eintracht Frankfurt, taking the German side to the UEFA Europa League Semi-Final in the 2018/19 campaign with an exciting team containing the likes of Luka Jovic and Filip Kostic.

Hutter’s efforts in that campaign saw BILD name him Coach of the Year, while his Eintracht Frankfurt side, who were arranged in a unique 3-1-4-2 formation, were named Team of the Year.

The Austrian then joined Borussia Mönchengladbach for the 2021/22 campaign, where things didn’t work out too well as he left after just one season.

Nevertheless, you can see why Crystal Palace are fans of his, so be sure to keep an eye on the situation to see if Kurier’s story comes true.
