52 accurate passes, 100 touches, Leeds star controls the midfield once again

Tommaso Bianchi was considered Leeds’ best player by many who watched their 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

It’s fair to say Tommaso Bianchi has impressed Leeds United supporters since his arrival at Elland Road.

The 25-year-old’s passing range has done his reputation in England no harm and he has often been the man to turn to in Leeds’ midfield.

Against Sheffield Wednesday in Saturday’s Yorkshire derby, that was no different.

Indeed, as Opta stats show, no Leeds player made as many accurate passes as the Italian, who completed 52 (also a higher total than any Wednesday player), 25 of which were forward passes.

Five, meanwhile, were completed in the final third, although Bianchi did not actually create any chances – where the striker was on-side at least.

But the fact that Bianchi took 100 touches further demonstrates his dominance from midfield. The Italian kept Darko Milanic’s side ticking throughout.

His 80 per cent passing accuracy, however, could be improved upon, meaning fans in Yorkshire have not seen the best of him just yet. Alex Mowatt enjoyed a higher accuracy, while Billy Sharp completed all of his passes (although the substitute only made five).

Despite the 25-year-old’s efforts, though, Leeds are still yet to win under their new manager after three games, sitting 14th in the Championship table. Next up for Milanic’s men are Rotherham away.
