Arthur Melo has decided that he will only leave Juventus for Arsenal despite rival interest from Premier League strugglers Newcastle United, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb

After being restricted to just three Serie A starts since Max Allegri replaced Andrea Pirlo in the Allianz Stadium dugout, all Arthur wants to is feel important again.

And, after spending the last couple of days whispering sweet nothings into the Brazilian’s ear, it seems that Mikel Arteta has succeeded in convincing him that North London is the place to be.

Italian publication La Repubblica reported earlier in the January transfer window that Newcastle were interested in a potential £50 million deal.

Arthur, who joined Juventus in a £72 million player-plus-cash deal includibng Miralem Pjanic, also received approaches from La Liga and the Bundesliga.

But, according to Tuttomercatoweb, there is only one club Arthur would be willing to leave Juventus for this month. And it’s not Newcastle. You can forget about Sevilla either.

Is Arthur right to choose Arsenal over Newcastle?

Arteta is reportedly ready to ‘guarantee’ Arthur a major role in his Gunners side.

And the former Barcelona playmaker looks set to snatch Arsenal’s hand off as they look to secure the 25-year-old on loan for the rest of this season.

There is one obstacle that must first be overcome, however, before Arthur is posing for photos in front of the Emirates Stadium.

Allegri will only let the diminutive pass-master leave if Juventus can first bring in a replacement.

That is without mentioning the fact that Aaron Ramsey is also expected to depart, with Newcastle leading the race for the Welshman’s signature.

It remains to be seen whether Allegri would be willing to let both Ramsey and Arthur go in the same window, given that central midfield is not exactly a position of strength as far as Juventus are concerned.
