Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has said that he wants to play for Celtic in the future, as quoted in The Daily Record.

The Scotland international was let go by Celtic when he was a teenager, but the 26-year-old is now one of the best players in the Premier League and in Europe.

The left-back joined Queen’s Park after his exit from Celtic, and after turning out for Dundee United and Hull City, he earned the big move to Liverpool in 2017.

During his time at the Reds so far, Robertson has won the Champions League and is on the verge of clinching the Premier League title this season.

The 26-year-old – who earns £50,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has said that he wants to play for the Hoops in the future.

The Daily Record quotes Robertson as saying: “My ideal situation is to retire at Liverpool. It’s going to be quite hard but I’d love to be able to finish my career here.

“If I can keep my standards high, up to a James-Milner-kind of age, then I would be quite happy with that and call it a day then.

“But I’ve always said I would love to pull on the Celtic top and play. I played for Dundee United, which I loved.

“Never say never: I want to play as long as I can, so if that means finishing in Scotland or at one point going up to Scotland the I’d be open to it. But my ideal is finishing with a couple more trophies at Liverpool.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Robertson has made 27 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season, scoring one goal and providing seven assists in the process.
