Tottenham Hotspur remain in pursuit of a new permanent manager after parting company with Antonio Conte in March.
Plenty of names have been doing the rounds over the past few weeks, including Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.
Brendan Rodgers is another coach who is apparently on the radar of the Tottenham hierarchy.
TalkSPORT reported in March that Tottenham are big fans of the 50-year-old.
It was suggested that Spurs admire Rodgers and his style of play is what they are seeking from their next manager.
Meanwhile, Graeme Bailey told the Talking Transfers Podcast that Daniel Levy rates the Northern Irishman highly.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now corroborated the above claims, in conversation with GiveMeSport.
He said Rodgers has “admirers in the boardroom” and noted how his free agent status increases his chances of landing the N17 job.
On Spurs’ hunt for a new manager, O’Rourke said: “It obviously increases the opportunities for Brendan Rodgers now.
“He’s basically a free agent, he’s on the market, has great experience and he’s managed top clubs like Liverpool and Celtic where there is massive pressure to deliver success.
“He has admirers in the Tottenham boardroom, as Daniel Levy has considered him previously for the job as well.
“So now, there’s no compensation to pay for his services.”
Our view
Admittedly, Rodgers may not be a marquee name such as Pochettino, Nagelsmann or Luis Enrique.
However, the 50-year-old certainly ticks quite a few boxes for Spurs.
He has plenty of experience in the English game and has won a fair few trophies in England and Scotland.
Spurs cult hero Darren Anderton recently said Rodgers plays “the Tottenham way”, which Spurs fans would love.
Certainly worth a shout.
