West Ham were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Arsenal at the quarter-final stage – but who were their worst players?

5. Javier Hernandez
It’s hard to blame a striker for not scoring when he wasn’t able to get a single shot off, because he was so obviously deprived of anything regarding quality service. But at some point you have to look at the striker and point out that they’re not making the right kind of runs. Javier Hernandez looks utterly lost at West Ham.

4. Aaron Cresswell
Played out of position as a right wing-back, one can have sympathy for Cresswell but the Englishman was still an utter non-event for West Ham. He completed 0 dribbles, created 0 chances and was removed for Andy Carroll just after the hour as West Ham chased a goal for the final half hour.

3. James Collins
In the closing minutes of the first-half, Mathieu Debuchy headed a simple looping ball back into the middle of the West Ham box. James Collins was right there and this looked like a textbook clearance for the Welshman. Instead Collins completely misjudged the flight of the ball and leaped underneath it’s path, surprising Winston Reid behind him and allowing Danny Welbeck to sneak in and score. It was a shocking mistake and it cost his team a chance at silverware.

2. Pedro Obiang
Obiang has been one of the better players under David Moyes’ West Ham revival. The midfielder has offered solid defensive play and control at the base of midfield. Yet here against Arsenal he looked as shockingly bad as he ever has. Obiang attempted 54 passes for West Ham, completing just 34 of them (a shocking 63% pass completion) and also won just 1/5 tackles (20% success). He was diabolically bad and if this keeps up, then West Ham are in serious trouble.

1. Joe Hart
What in the actual hell?! Adrian has never been a top-class goalkeeper like Hart, who at times has flirted with greatness, but to look at their performances this season one would never know that. Hart’s decline has been staggeringly rapid, the man looks utterly incapable of the most rudimentary tasks of goalkeeping. He was such a non-event on Arsenal’s goal when he should have dominated his area by coming out to claim the cross or at least block Welbeck, and what’s worse is he probably should have conceded a penalty in the second half as well.
