The Saints have a wealth of talent that they must endeavour to keep a hold of into next season.

Manolo Gabbiadini

It goes without saying that Gabbiadini is the shining light of Southampton’s season so far, and at 24, has yet to even hit his prime. The nippy former Napoli man has scored all manner of goals in his first few games, and seems to be on the end of every attack Southampton launch.

Martin Caceres

He hasn’t yet played a game for Southampton, yet the wealth of experience and pedigree that Caceres possesses warrants him a place on this list alone. A defensive partnership between the former Juventus and Barcelona man and Virgil van Dijk could prove formidable.

Virgil van Dijk

Arguably the one that will be hard to hang on to, it seems increasingly unlikely that van Dijk will still be a Southampton player come the summer. Losing the current club captain would be a huge blow to Saints fans, as the Dutchman has proved himself to be one of the better defenders in the division. The club should do their utmost to keep the former Celtic man at St Mary’s.

Nathan Redmond

Every time Nathan Redmond picks up the ball, you expect something to happen. The English winger has again impressed this season, scoring 5 goals and providing a spark that will always be useful to any attacking force. At 23, there’s still a way for him to improve too.

Sofiane Boufal

Boufal has had a first season blighted by injury and participation in the African Cup of Nations. Nevertheless, the man signed for big money in the summer will undoubtedly be in Claude Puel’s plans for the next season, and rightly so. His flair and unpredictability could yet make him a star.
