Everton were strongly linked to Manchester United’s Memphis Depay.

Everton made no secret of their desire to sign Memphis Depay late last year, with manager Ronald Koeman telling SkySports he wanted to bring him in.
Depay was out of favour at Manchester United and desperate for playing time to get his career back on track, and had caught the eye on international duty for Holland.
The Toffees signed United teammate Morgan Schneiderlin, but missed out on Depay, who signed for French side Lyon for £16 million.
Over in France, Depay has quickly found form, showing Manchester United the error of their ways.
He has five goals in 10 games, form which also suggests Everton should be regretting not pushing through a move to sign the Dutchman.

The highlight of these was a spectacular strike from inside the centre circle against Toulouse, showing incredible vision, technique and execution.
Depay showed weaknesses at Manchester United, accused of trying to be too fancy and not tracking back enough, but in the right system under a manager who believes in him, he can be a real asset.
This is a player who struck 22 goals in 30 games for PSV Eindhoven in 2014/15, and is just 23-years-old.
As well as his five goals, Depay has two assists too, and could have linked up well with Romelu Lukaku.
